Product Descriptions :
In ceramic tile manufacturing, the spray-drying stage relies on high-pressure nozzles to atomize slip into uniform granules. The slip itself is an abrasive slurry containing silica, alumina, and clay particles, whose hardness and angularity cause severe erosive wear on conventional steel nozzles. Under continuous operation, these steel components typically degrade within just a few days, leading to widening orifices, distorted spray patterns, and inconsistent granule size distribution.
Tungsten carbide (TC) inserts address this problem directly. By replacing the wear-prone steel contact surfaces with a much harder, erosion-resistant material, TC inserts extend nozzle service life from days to several months. This longevity translates into a stable spray angle and consistent granule morphology throughout the production run, which in turn ensures uniform density and moisture content in the tile body. As a result, pressing behavior becomes more predictable — reducing defects such as cracking, delamination, and dimensional variation — while also cutting downtime, replacement costs, and scrap rates associated with frequent nozzle changes.
